What tablet do you use to make digital art?
I use a Wacom Cintiq 13HD.It is by far the most expensive art tool I have ever bought but it is also the best investment I have ever made. Ever since I got this tablet in 2014-ish I have improved really fast. The reason I chose to get a tablet with a screen in it was because I never really got good with non-screen tablets. I found it very difficult to look in another spot than where my pencil was. I felt like some of my art style was lost in the transition - so I invested in a Cintiq and it is probably the best thing I ever did for my inner artist
what program/software do you draw and paint in?
Photoshop CCI never tried any other software. I have used Photoshop since it was called Photoshop 7.0. and just never saw a reason to change
how long have you been drawing?
I'd like to say always, but I started to draw manga and getting more serious in 2003 when I was introduced to Dragon Ball Z.
I started doing a little professional art in 2012 but only started commission work in 2014.
How do i get good at drawing?
I am actually surprised how many ask this - and there really is only one way, and it's the same you hear from everyone else: PRACTISE.
Work hard, believe in yourself, accept that you don't get to be the best, that you can always grow more, that it takes time and don't compare yourself to any other than yourself.
did you go to art school? if yes, which?
Nope - I am self taught ^^
can i post your art on fb/tumblr/instagram/etc. if i credit you?
Please consider to asking me before re-posting my art, but at least remember to give proper credit if you do it. Proper credit must include a link to either my DeviantArt, my website, Instagram or Youtube. Preferably all of them. NEVER repost my art if I told you not to.
why don't you do requests like many other artists do?
Because I have very limited time to myself, my family, my pets and my hobbies. Requests are free works and I'd rather make money on my art or draw my own stuff than pleasing others endlessly x)
It might sound a bit harsh to some people, but if you really want a specific thing drawn, ask someone else or learn to draw it yourself. I promise you won't regret the last option ^.^
Do you do commissions?
Yes, ocasionally. Keep an eye out on my social media (or here on dA) for when I open ^^
how do you deal with art blocks?
Yes, I do. I get art blocked all the time. It can happen twice a week - sometimes only once a month! It depends very much on how my private life i going. If work is tough, I get art blocked. If my pet is sick, I get art blocked. That sorts of things. My art blocks are usually very short though - sometimes they only last a day - sometimes a week...weeks...
What I learned to be the best medicine to an art block are these things:
- Draw! Put your pencil to the paper (or pen to your tablet) and draw. It doesn't matter what you draw! It doesn't even have to be a figure - maybe you can just scribble!? As soon as your pen touches your paper, you are forcing your brain to start thinking about art. Before you know it you might get all kinds of ideas. Even if you feel like you can't make them a reality right now, write them down.
- Write down ideas! If you have a very productive day with loads of ideas, write them down or draw them as thumbnails. When you have an art block you can pick from these ideas.
- Develop your style: I usually draw a lot of head shots when I have an art block. I find stock or model images of people and draw them in my own style - playing with coloring, lights and angles. I don't think too much doing this and it is great practice.
- Accept you have an art block - don't force yourself to draw something spectacular when you know that you can't. Make simple stuff instead. Do stuff that makes you happy! Also remember that if you have an art block and you don't feel like you are living up to your full potential, then remember that you don't have to show off the works you did while having an art block.
Do you do collabs or art trades?
Ocasionally - but usually only with close friends.
will you critique my art?
I have so little time left over besides work that I'd rather relax or work on some of my own projects than spending time critiquing individuals' artwork. I get requested to do this a lot and I get why I'm being asked but going through artwork, considering points of improvement and formulating good answers takes time - and time is money @_@
So I apologize, but this is not a service I provide.
how did you develop your art style?
It really depends on what you define as "art style". To me, an art style is what makes someone go: "Hey, that is X's artwork!" It might be a unique way that an artist draws eyes or hair. It may be the specific way they blend colors together, a specific light setting or even preferred color palettes that an artist is known to use. I believe that an art style is also the artist's interpretation of "what they see". So an artist may be really good at anatomy, but purposely exaggerates certain features to make their body proportions unique.
I believe that I developed my art style based on mistakes that I made along the way. It is the way that feels most natural for me to draw. Like the most natural way for me to create the flow in hair or the shape of the eyes I draw.
I honestly think that it is a tricky question XD and I have no definite answer.
How do i get started taking commissions?
I'm currently working on a video on this subject because it's so huge and would require soooo much wall of text to write. Please be patient ^^
is there any way i can support you besides commissions?
Absolutely! Subscribing/follow my users across the internet is a huge help! If you want to add a little extra - you can always share my drawings with your friends. I also have a tiny Gumroad you can have a look at.
I'm planning to create a Patreon at some point in 2018 so that will become an option as well ^^
Feel free to ask anything ~
